Raw sugar hits its lowest price in seven weeks on the ICE. Reuters - Published: 15 Jun 2026 - 07:43 Raw sugar futures traded on ICE hit their lowest price in seven weeks on Friday, the 12th, marking the sixth consecutive session of decline, despite concerns related to El Niño conditions in the coming months. Raw sugar for July delivery closed down 0.09 cents, or 0.7%, at 13.70 cents per pound, after hitting a seven-week low of 13.68 cents per pound. The market recorded a weekly loss of 3.1%. Brokers stated that the weakness could be attributed, in part, to the fall in oil prices and the abundant supply in the short term. They noted, however, that the outlook for global sugar production in the 2026/27 crop year was deteriorating, with mills in Brazil prioritizing ethanol over sugar as the sugarcane harvest progresses in the Center-South region. The El Niño climate phenomenon could also reduce production in several countries, including India and Mexico. Moderate to strong El Niño conditions are expected to prevail during the June-to-September monsoon season in India, the weather service said Friday, raising concerns about rainfall and crop prospects in the world's most populous country. Meanwhile, the most active white sugar contract fell 0.4% to US$444.60 per ton. Nigel Hunt and Marcelo Teixeira
