Karakas Hedvig: Bízom az elvégzett kemény munkában A Japán főváros szívében lévő Magyar Kulturális Intézet bejárata a tokiói olimpia magyar reménységeinek – így például a cselgáncsozó Karakas Hedvignek – fotójával van feldíszítve. „Nemcsak az a cél, hogy a helyi magyar szíveket megdobogtassuk, ha betérnek, hanem hogy a japánoknak is megmutassuk, kiért érdemes szorítaniuk a magyarok közül” - mondta az MTI-nek Palanovics Norbert, Magyarország tokiói nagykövete. Karakas Hedvigék hétvégén - több mint 24 órás utazás után - érkeztek meg az Olimpia helyszínére. „Nyilván sok lesz az eddigi olimpiákhoz képest a szabály, amit be kell tartanunk, és sok fog azon is múlni, ki mennyire lesz majd képes ezekhez alkalmazkodni. Legjobb tudásom szerint készültem, 21 év tapasztalata alapján bízom az elvégzett kemény munkában, felkészültnek érzem magam fizikálisan, taktikailag és mentálisan is. Háború lesz, de mindent megteszek, hogy ki tudjam hozni magamból a maximumot aznap” – mondta elutazása pillanatában Karakas Hedvig a B+N-nek. Hedvig július 26-án lép tatamira (itteni idő szerint hajnalban). Búcsúzáskor kiemelte, hogy „szeretném a B+N-nek megköszönni az eddigi bizalmat és támogatást, harcolni fogok értük is”.
