A recent report by Boston Public Health Commission reveals a staggering disparity: Black Bostonians die younger than every other racial and ethnic group in the city. Closing the racial gap in life expectancy will require equity-centered interventions, the report notes. Leaders like BMC's Thea James, MD, MPH, MBA, VP of Mission, Associate Chief Medical Officer, and Executive Director of the Health Equity Accelerator, are helping drive that work. The Health Equity Compact, co-founded by James, is a coalition of 100 organizations spanning healthcare, community organizations, higher education, life sciences, philanthropy, and public health, with a focus on advancing health equity through diverse leadership and collaboration.
