The first conference session:"Securing the Future" with Ana Musat, Executive Director, Policy & Engagement for RenewableUK, explored the evolving relationship between energy security, geopolitics, and offshore wind. As someone in the audience, it was fascinating to hear how the gas price crisis has fundamentally changed the UK's understanding of energy security. Highlighting that energy security is no longer just about having enough supply - it's about reducing exposure to volatile international fuel markets and building resilient, domestic sources of energy. Several themes stood out: - Offshore wind as a strategic asset – the sector is increasingly viewed not only as a decarbonisation solution but as a cornerstone of national energy security, helping shield consumers and businesses from global price shocks. - International collaboration matters – the importance of working closely with allies and industry partners to strengthen supply chains, accelerate deployment, and share expertise across borders. - A shifting narrative – the energy crisis appears to have strengthened both political and public recognition of offshore wind's role in delivering secure, affordable, and homegrown energy. The challenge now is maintaining momentum and demonstrating long-term value. The session was a timely reminder that offshore wind is about far more than meeting climate targets. It is increasingly central to economic resilience, energy independence, and the UK's future competitiveness. Great insights from the panel and plenty of food for thought on the opportunities and challenges ahead for the offshore wind sector. #OffshoreWind #EnergySecurity #RenewableEnergy #NetZero #RUKGOW26 #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy #UKEnergy #SecuringTheFuture
