I’m excited to share that the main results of my PhD are now published in Protein Science! In this work, we combined native mass spectrometry, mass photometry, and structural approaches such as negative-stain electron microscopy to uncover the architecture of the multifactor complex (MFC), a key player in eukaryotic translation initiation. Our results reveal a new stoichiometry for the MFC, showing that two molecules of eIF5 are required for its stable assembly. This finding highlights the central role of eIF5 in coordinating interactions between initiation factors and provides new insights into how translation initiation is regulated.
