Great to see this collaboration and discussion gaining momentum. Quantum computing is no longer a distant concept from research labs, it is real, advancing quickly, and the implications for cybersecurity are equally real. The transition to a quantum-secure enterprise will be one of the largest modernization efforts organizations will face. From what we see across the industry, the biggest challenge is not the cryptographic algorithms themselves, but the scale: - identifying where cryptography is used (HW & SW), - modernizing legacy products and applications, - and coordinating change across complex ecosystems and third-party vendors. Creating urgency now is essential. Organizations need to start preparing their environments, engaging their vendors, and building a roadmap toward post-quantum cryptography. At #IBM we are in the middle of this journey ourselves and have learned that such a transformation requires strong #Automation and #AI support to make it feasible at enterprise scale. During the visit in Ehningen it was impressive to see how automation can accelerate this work. Many thanks to Sibylle Schäfer, Philipp Winklmüller, Michael Essigke and Michael Hagebölling for their impressive presentations. A particularly striking example was IBM’s #ProjectBob, which demonstrated how even a legacy Java application can be analyzed, adapted for quantum-safe cryptography, and redeployed to a platform environment within minutes. This shows that the tools and approaches are emerging but the time to start the journey is now.
