In Banyuwangi, Indonesia, more than half a million people now have access to formal waste collection services, thanks to Project STOP. This milestone reflects tangible progress on the ground: less open dumping and burning, cleaner communities, improved public health and waste kept out of rivers and the ocean. As co-founder of Project STOP, we support a long‑term, systems‑based approach to tackling plastic pollution at its source. Through Project STOP Banyuwangi Hijau, the initiative has moved beyond pilots to a regency‑wide waste management system, developed in close partnership with local government and communities.
