Veneer is wood that is cut, sawn, or peeled into thin sheets, typically between 0.5 and 5 mm thick. In our work, we frequently use veneer, for example in deck furniture for large yachts. Before processing, we carefully lay out each sheet and decide exactly which strip will go where. Every veneer has its own color and grain pattern, which needs to be taken into account. To ensure the final result, such as a high-quality dining table, appears harmonious, we arrange the veneers so they look like one continuous piece. We deliberately avoid harsh transitions, knots, or abrupt changes in grain direction, as well as inconsistent combinations like highly figured grain next to very plain areas. Once we’ve found the perfect arrangement, we mark each piece so we always know exactly how they fit together. #maritimeindustry #shipyard #bremen #jobopening #craftsmanship
