BFFB Let's talk about cinema 📹 Ep. 13 Gregor Brändli, a Swiss filmmaker and photographer based in Basel, presents ELEPHANTS & SQUIRRELS at the Bolzano Film Festival Bozen, a documentary already selected for the International Competition at DOK Leipzig 2025. As co-founder of Theater Kollektiv Glück and the design studio Tristesse, his work moves within a fluid space between fiction and documentary, cinema and theatre. With ELEPHANTS & SQUIRRELS, Brändli examines Switzerland’s involvement in the colonial system, following Sri Lankan artist Deneth Piumakshi Veda Arachchige in her fight for the restitution of human remains and artefacts belonging to the Wanniyala-Aetto indigenous community, taken in the early 20th century and still held in Basel’s museums.
