In the mid-1990s, Lowe's identified a gap in the hand tool market between weekend-warrior brands and professional-grade. They'd never built a brand at that scale, so they called BOLTGROUP. The result was Kobalt Tools: the most successful proprietary brand in Lowe's history. Built with one team, one brief—brand strategy, product design, naming, identity, packaging, merchandising, and a multi-year roadmap developed in the same room.
