O p e n i n g Recently, ‘Flower of the Alpine Sun’ officially opened at Alpine Resorts Victoria's Falls Creek. Located at an elevation of 1,600 metres, the sculptural viewing platform was developed by artist Giovanni Veronesi in collaboration with himmelzimmer. Inspired by alpine flora, the structure transforms the mountain landscape into an immersive experience for visitors. We have been involved in this project since 2019, providing structural engineering services from concept through to completion. The sculpture stands 9 metres high and 8.1 metres wide, with a 10-metre-long walkway leading to the viewing platform. The petals are made of aluminium, while the bridge, platform, and supporting elements are constructed from galvanised steel. The foundation is anchored directly into the bedrock using deep rock anchors.
