Bollegraaf is building the UK's first tray-to-tray plastic sorting and recycling facility for Veolia. This facility in Shropshire will shred, wash, and flake 80.000 tonnes of PET plastic from trays and bottles every year, which will then be reused for food-grade packaging. The UK does not have a closed-loop facility to recycle PET trays into food-grade materials due to the difficulty in achieving the required standards. By combining the world-leading expertise of Bollegraaf and Veolia, the UK will soon have a first closed-loop PET facility. The facility is expected to be operational by early 2026.
