🔷 Let’s Talk Quartz — #57 Why the most expensive quartz component is often the one nobody notices. ⸻ When people think about critical components in advanced manufacturing, they usually focus on the large and obvious ones. The chamber. The reactor. The tooling. The machine itself. But in many cases, process stability depends on parts that are almost invisible compared to the overall system. A small flange. A spacer. A positioning element. A simple-looking quartz insert. These components rarely attract attention because they represent only a tiny fraction of the overall system cost. Yet they often operate under exactly the same thermal, chemical and mechanical conditions as the much larger components around them. And that creates a problem. Because when a seemingly insignificant component fails, the impact is rarely insignificant. A process interruption does not care whether the root cause was a €20,000 chamber component or a comparatively inexpensive quartz insert.
