This week, we were delighted to welcome our clients and teams in Paris to a private screening of ‘Le Temps des Femmes’, a new documentary produced by Melissa Theuriau. The documentary accompanies 14 women of different backgrounds and years of experience in their daily lives - and asks if the lives of women have changed in the past 60 years. The screening - organised by our Women in Global Markets & Women in Global Banking networks - was followed by a roundtable with Mélissa herself, alongside several of the film’s contributors: Léa Griton-Noël, astrophysicist; Dr. Amina Yamgnane, gynecologist and obstetrician; and Najia ZAHAOUI, software engineer. The conversation was moderated by George Holst, our Global Head of Corporate Coverage, Sectors & Advisory. The rich discussion covered a number of profound themes, including: 🔷 Societal expectations and conditioning for women around work, children and balancing daily life - and the costs and consequences 🔷 The under-representation of women in the workplace, and pressure on senior professionals to ensure they represent women in spheres of power 🔷 The unique challenges of the ‘sandwich generation’ - middle aged adults obliged to care for both children and ageing parents 🔷 How women are reclaiming the narrative, and new attitudes among the next generation Thank you to all of our speakers; to Hubert de Lambilly, Head of Global Markets for Continental Europe and MEA for his opening remarks; and to isabelle giordano, Head of Corporate Philanthropy for the BNP Paribas Foundation, who closed the event with a few words on the Bank's engagement on womens’ empowerment. Thank you also to Camille Lemercier-Lebleu, Head of Clients Access France for spearheading the event, and to the organising team Laurie Gokoglu, Marion Le Signor, Aurélie Sotto, Youmna Noujaim and Fatima Bouhadjadj.
