Remembering a Visionary: Dr. Leo Newland The BMW CCA Foundation and the broader automotive community have lost a true pillar. We are deeply saddened to share that Dr. Leo Newland passed away on the morning of January 22 at his home in Fort Worth, Texas. Leo’s impact over the last 50 years is immeasurable. From his academic career as a Professor Emeritus at Texas Christian University to his leadership in the non-profit sector, Leo embodied the definition of a servant leader. As a Founding Trustee and past President of the BMW CCA Foundation, Leo was a driving force behind: The Tire Rack Street Survival® Program: Helping train thousands of teens in life-saving driving skills. The Ambassador Network: Building a nationwide community of volunteers dedicated to car culture and safety. The Ultimate Driving Museum: Specifically the creation of the "M Platz" in Greer, SC. His service earned him the prestigious "Friend of the Marque" award from the BMW Clubs International Council in 2014, a testament to his global influence on the brand and its enthusiasts. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Marian, and the Newland family. Leo, thank you for your wisdom, your friendship, and for always leading the way. Signed, The Board of Trustees, Staff, and Ambassadors of the BMW CCA Foundation
