Another inspiring example from Berlin 🇩🇪 One of the advantages of leading an international architecture and interior design studio is being able to observe how different cities are redefining hospitality and retail experiences. A recent stop in Prenzlauer Berg was Sant Buena — a café that seamlessly combines a coffee shop, curated grocery, bookstore, and a variety of seating experiences within one space. Unsurprisingly, it was buzzing. What makes spaces like this successful isn’t just great coffee. It’s the thoughtful layering of functions. Visitors can stop by for a quick espresso, browse for a cookbook, pick up specialty groceries, work for a few hours, or meet friends over brunch. Different users, different needs, different lengths of stay — all within the same environment. The result? ✔️ Increased customer dwell time ✔️ Multiple revenue streams ✔️ Higher footfall throughout the day ✔️ A stronger sense of community and belonging ✔️ A differentiated market position As architects and interior designers, we shouldn’t only ask “How will this space look?” We should also ask: How will people move through it? What behaviors are we encouraging? How can one space serve multiple emotional and commercial needs?
