Today we recognize Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history that marks the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. This day serves as both a remembrance of that milestone and a reflection on the continued pursuit of justice, equity, and freedom for all.
