🏠"Europe’s industrial base lost its #energy independence back in the 1970s amid soaring oil and gas prices. This highlights the enduring need today for sovereign, cost-competitive energy sources to secure its future." 🔵 Blue Capsule Technology couldn't agree more with this stark assessment of where energy-intensive industry finds itself today. We're now at a fork in the road with no margin for error. Whether in Europe or further afield. 🙋 This is what our colleague Amaury LE PERSON heard in Istanbul, as he capped off an intense few weeks by attending the latest World Nuclear Association 'End Users Workshop'. ⚛️ On the agenda? The demand for nuclear energy by large industry users, and how we get to deployment. That includes #SMRs that produce onsite heat and steam, like our Blue Capsule reactor. 🔎 But with the massive uptick in global interest in nuclear energy, we're hearing more and more that technology is only part of the equation when it comes to SMR success: 💬 "It's alignment between governments, vendors, financiers, and end users that ultimately drives bankability," noted Selma Öner, Ph.D. 🙋 As we told you in a LinkedIn update last week, we are working diligently with financiers, end users, and the European supply chain to drive our project forward. And our constructive collaboration with regulators and government is also vital - not just here in France but in other potential markets. 📍 No matter where the end user is located, industry can no longer survive volatile fossil fuel prices and supply shocks. Nuclear energy can and must step in. 🔵 Our answer? Blue Capsule. A versatile high-temperature reactor (HTR) for industries that need flexible hot air to 700°C (1300°F), steam to 650°C (1100°F), and electricity as required. Modular, mid-sized (150 MWth), and a new approach to mature HTR technology: ✅ TRISO fuel type for the highest safety possible (developed in cooperation with Framatome); ✅ Sodium coolant at low pressure, for enhanced economics; ✅ Conventional low-enriched uranium (<5%), widely available & easier for reactor export. 🤝 In that regard, we were delighted to exchange with a range of energy end users and #nuclear experts in Istanbul. Our special thanks to workshop co-organizers the Nuclear Industry Association of Türkiye - NIATR and the World Nuclear Association, in addition to Ximena Vásquez-Maignan.
