Blue Bottle Coffee Kamakura Cafe is now open. Designed around the concept of “The Scenery of the Ancient Capital, Kamakura,” the space was envisioned by Yasuo Imazu of ninkipen! in his first cafe design for Blue Bottle Coffee. Inspired by the city’s history, architecture, and seasonal textures, the cafe brings together details drawn from Kamakura itself. A striking stainless steel ceiling references the glimmering reflections beneath the pilotis ceiling of the Tsurugaoka Museum. Throughout the space, lighting and select walls feature washi paper dyed with coffee, while sofa fabrics take on hydrangea tones inspired by early summer in Kamakura. Tucked away from the bustle of the city, the cafe was designed as a place to slow down over coffee and experience the character of Kamakura through both the space and the hospitality within it.
