SHS Delft (Stichting Herontwikkeling tot Studentenhuisvesting), with four students of our faculty on its board, has won the jury prize at the Re-Use Awards 2026. The award was granted for the redevelopment of the Polakweg in Rijswijk. In this project, a former office building has been transformed, in collaboration with Rosewood Real Estate, into approximately 350 student rooms. According to the jury, the project stands out not only because of its scale, but above all for its social impact. It demonstrates how vacant real estate can be effectively repurposed to address an urgent challenge: the shortage of student housing. The transformation results in hundreds of new living spaces and highlights the role that redevelopment can play in increasing the housing supply. Congratulations SHS!
