Rotterdam South, like many neighbourhoods, is experiencing the effects of climate change up close: from flood risks to increasing heat effects. Effective climate adaptation is needed. Technical solutions are part of this, but just as important is the need for listening and collaboration. The project ‘Mapping for Climate Resilience – a Collaborative Approach' puts working together with citizens at the centre. Researchers from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam and TU Delft, including Céline Janssen and Maryam Naghibi (both former postdoctoral researchers at our faculty), use this shared way of working to make citizens'perspectives on climate adaptation visible. Using creative and participatory methods, the team explores how local knowledge and experiences can be integrated into urban decision-making. In this way, the project contributes to a more inclusive approach to climate adaptation.
