BKR Capital is truly honoured to share this recognition bestowed upon our Co-Founder & General Partner, Isaac Olowolafe. Yesterday, at the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA)’s Invest Canada 2026 conference in Halifax, Isaac was announced as the recipient of the 2026 Ted Anderson Community Leadership Award. This esteemed award recognizes an individual’s remarkable commitment of time, leadership, and service toward advancing a community or cause, and whose contributions have had a profound and lasting impact on the quality of life of those touched by their generosity. Isaac received this distinction in recognition of his extraordinary vision and impact across affordable housing, healthcare equity, entrepreneurship, and economic inclusion initiatives within Black communities across Canada over the last two decades. Before co-founding BKR Capital, Isaac dedicated significant time, capital, and energy to advancing Black entrepreneurship and community development through initiatives such as the Dream Legacy Foundation and Dream Maker Ventures. Through these platforms, he helped build and support a range of programs focused on innovation and economic empowerment, including the Black Innovation Programs at the DMZ at Toronto Metropolitan University. Across every stage of his career, a consistent thread has been his commitment to creating access, opportunity, and long-term impact. That commitment has also extended well beyond the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Whether opening the doors of Dream Suites @ YYZ, his boutique hotel, to provide refuge for displaced individuals in times of need, or partnering with The Hospital for Sick Children / SickKids Foundation to help advance health outcomes within the Black community, Isaac has continually used his platform to support people in meaningful and tangible ways. Through philanthropy and initiatives such as the Dream Legacy Fellowship in Sickle Cell Disease, he has demonstrated a multifaceted and institution-building approach to impact — one that connects entrepreneurship, housing, healthcare, and community infrastructure to create vertically integrated pathways for long-term opportunity and inclusion. As a team, we are incredibly proud to celebrate this moment alongside him, and to join the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association in congratulating Isaac on this well-deserved honour. Our sincere appreciation to the CVCA and its judging committee, to François Piché-Roy from PIXCELL - Recrutement de cadres - Executive Search for his warm introduction on stage, as well as to all of this year’s nominees and award recipients whose work continues to strengthen our national ecosystem. Congratulations, Isaac —let’s continue building an ecosystem where leadership, inclusion, & long-term impact can thrive together! #BKRCapital #StartupEcosystem #VentureCapital #Innovation #CVCA #InvestCanada26 #BlackFounders #BlackEntrepreneurs #BlackInTech #Diversity #Leadership #Community
