Congratulations to Hyun Song Shin on his appointment by the President of the Republic of Korea as Governor of the Bank of Korea, effective 20 April. Under Hyun’s leadership, the BIS research and analytical work made great strides in strengthening the Bank’s research profile and supporting the central banking community. We thank him for his many invaluable contributions to the BIS and wish him all the best in the future. “I want to warmly congratulate Hyun as he takes on the role of Governor of the Bank of Korea. Since he joined the BIS in 2014, Hyun has provided intellectual leadership and strategic direction to the work of the BIS,” said General Manager Pablo Hernández de Cos. As previously announced, in the interim, the Monetary and Economic Department will be led by Frank Smets, who will serve as Acting Head.
