Professor Nancy Grimm of the BioX Department of Biology Checkpoints in the cell cycle of yeast are here! The fission yeast cell cycle is the simplest one that has been studied extensively. A single Cdk enzyme, called Cdc2, is responsible for regulating this process. In order to control the G1/S and G2/M checkpoints, Cdc2 partners with cyclins. Complexes that promote anaphase are responsible for controlling spindle v checkpoint (APC).
