👩‍🔬 Inside BIOSYSTEMS Meet Bruna Dias, a Researcher at the CEB - Centre of Biological Engineering, University of Minho.   Her research focuses on Industrial Biotechnology, with a particular emphasis on the use of yeasts to develop sustainable bioprocesses for the valorization of low-cost and renewable substrates. Her expertise includes the development, optimization, and scale-up of yeast-based bioprocesses, from laboratory-scale to bioreactor operation, fermentation technology and biomass pretreatment, contributing to the design of efficient and sustainable bioprocesses for industrial applications. Currently, Bruna’s research is focused on the MB4AQUA project, where she is developing fermentation-based strategies to valorize macroalgae by improving their nutritional properties for the production of sustainable feed ingredients and functional additives, contributing to the development of low-carbon-footprint aquafeeds.
