The Qikiqtani Inuit Association and the City of Iqaluit are exploring a new way of planning, in which BIOSIS has developed a vision and master plan that reimagines how neighbourhoods can grow within Arctic conditions. The concept introduces elevated, clustered buildings and walkways that follow the natural contours of the terrain rather than blasting it flat, creating a framework that safeguards the fragile tundra and allows everyday life to unfold in close dialogue with nature. Together with QIA, the City, and our collaborators at EXP, we look forward to the next stage of the plan, where community engagement sessions will invite local partners and residents to help shape how this vision becomes a living part of Iqaluit.
