Making architecture readable and tangible. +++ REO Veilinghuis, Roeselare +++ At BINST ARCHITECTS, we approach form as a process of design research. The formal anatomy of a building reveals the thinking behind the design, yet often remains abstract on a screen. A physical model makes scale, proportion, and the relationship between volume and context tangible. That is why the physical model remains an essential part of our design process. It helps us refine form to its essence and makes the spatial qualities of a design more legible. By combining 3D printing with refined manual craftsmanship, a digital design becomes a physical object that can be explored from every angle. The model of the new REO Auction House reveals its layers, spatial coherence, and design intentions, making the project more understandable for everyone involved. +++ Bij BINST ARCHITECTS behandelen we vorm als ontwerpend onderzoek. De vormelijke anatomie van een gebouw vertelt veel over de gedachte achter het ontwerp, maar blijft op een scherm vaak abstract. Een fysieke maquette maakt schaal, verhouding en de relatie tussen volume en context tastbaar. Daarom blijft de maquette een essentieel onderdeel van ons ontwerpproces. Ze helpt ons de vorm te verfijnen tot haar essentie en maakt de ruimtelijke kwaliteiten beter leesbaar. Door 3D-printing te combineren met verfijnde manuele afwerking krijgt een digitaal ontwerp een fysieke vorm die vanuit elke hoek kan worden onderzocht.
