Glencore ramps up copper investment in Argentina Glencore, the Swiss mining and commodities giant led by South African CEO Gary Nagle, is planning a $13.5 billion expansion of its copper projects in Argentina. The company aims to invest $9.5 billion in the El Pachón project in San Juan province and $4 billion in the Agua Rica project in Catamarca over the next decade. The twin projects could create over 10,000 construction jobs and 2,500 permanent roles, while boosting Argentina’s position as a global copper supplier for electric vehicles and renewable energy. Glencore has applied to include both projects in Argentina’s Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI), offering long-term tax stability and investor protections. Gary Nagle said, “This submission marks a significant step toward advancing El Pachón and Agua Rica, deepening our commitment to Argentina.” 📌 Check the comment below to read the full story.
