How do you ensure that a sack performs in real filling conditions? You test it. At our Karlsborg mill, our Packaging Development Center is where we verify and optimize performance of our sack paper using data, testing and hands-on expertise. One of the areas we focus on is deaeration. By measuring how quickly air can escape through the sack construction, we can assess how the design impacts filling speed and efficiency. The key is in the construction. Instead of relying on impermeable plastic layers, we work with material design that allows air to flow through the paper structure – enabling faster, more stable filling. In the lab, we also identify potential weak points, such as leakage in corners or adhesive joints, and validate performance using methods like: • Filling simulations • Strength and weak-point analysis • Thermography to detect stress areas This is how we turn material knowledge into practical performance – helping our customers make informed packaging choices. For example, our QuickFill® papers combine high strength with excellent deaeration to enable fast, accurate filling.
