While interviewing a seller in my hometown today, Dani Olson from BigIron got quite a history lesson from the Elkhart/Cornland, Illinois area today. Seller Lee Johnson showed us the steam engine that his uncles bought in the early 1920’s. It’s still at the original John Dean Gillette farm it was delivered to all those years ago that the Johnson family still farms today. If that’s not amazing enough, do some Google searching for John Dean Gillette. He is the man who introduced shorthorn cattle to Illinois in the middle 1800’s.
