When I told my patient, “This is a medical student, it's her first time performing a paracentesis,” he paused for a second. Then he said something I didn’t expect.  “She’s going to be my doctor one day.”  - No questions. - No hesitation. - No objections, just trust. His wife smiled softly from the corner, holding her phone, quietly capturing a moment most people would forget. That moment stayed with me long after the shift ended. Because sometimes, patients see potential before we do. They carry our mistakes with grace, our hesitation with patience, and our growth with pride. Behind every confident doctor, there’s a patient who once said, “It’s okay, you can try.” To every patient who lets a trainee take that first step, thank you. You’re helping build the confidence of future doctors. with: Ashley Truesdale and Reza Abbasi Dezfouly ------------------ Hi!
