Bijdendijk's coffee logistics update Over the past weeks, we at Bijdendijk have been closely following the developments in the Middle East. First and foremost, our thoughts are with the people and communities directly affected by the conflict. At the same time, situations like this remind us how interconnected global trade has become. For the coffee sector, the shipping route through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal is an important corridor between producing countries and Europe. A large share of coffee from Asia and parts of East Africa normally travels through this route. Due to the current tensions, some shipping lines are avoiding the area and are instead sailing around Africa via the Cape of Good Hope. As a result, transit times can become longer and pressure on logistics and freight capacity can increase. At Bijdendijk we are closely monitoring the situation and its potential impact on global shipping routes. While some vessels are currently taking longer routes, much of the global coffee flow continues as normal. With our current stocks and ongoing shipments, we continue to keep supply stable while working closely with our logistics partners. Moments like this remind us how important planning, transparency and strong partnerships in the coffee supply chain are. By staying closely connected with our partners around the world, we continue to ensure a reliable flow of coffee. ☕ Team Bijdendijk #coffeeindustry #greencoffee #coffeetrade #supplychain #specialtycoffee #coffeeimport #globaltrade
