From Impressionism to Infrastructure: BSPRA Heads to Washington BSPRA Chair Dave Strohmaier spent the past few days in Philadelphia attending the National Association of Counties conference in his capacity as Missoula County Commissioner. While not a rail-focused event, it was a fitting prelude to the next leg of his journey: a series of high-level meetings in Washington, D.C. to advance the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority’s Corridor ID work. Along the way, Dave drew inspiration from Monet’s rendering of a train bridge, the determination of Rocky Balboa, and the enduring symbolism of the Liberty Bell. In D.C., Dave will be joined by John Robert Smith (Transportation for America), as well as BSPRA directors George Real Bird (Big Horn County) and Darrell Folkvard (Broadwater County), for strategic conversations with congressional leaders. These meetings reflect BSPRA’s ongoing commitment to restoring passenger rail service to southern Montana and the greater Northern Tier. We’re still punching above our weight—one corridor at a time.
