Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government has supported the distribution of around 22 lakh agricultural machines worth ₹9,404 crore under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM) since its launch in 2014-15. The initiative is promoting modern farm mechanisation across the entire crop cycle from land preparation and sowing to harvesting and post-harvest management and helping farmers improve productivity, reduce labour dependence and lower production costs. Special focus on underserved regions and the North-Eastern States is ensuring wider access to advanced agricultural technologies across the country. The Government is also advancing precision agriculture, with nearly 41,000 drone demonstrations conducted nationwide through financial assistance exceeding ₹52 crore. These demonstrations are enabling farmers to adopt drone-based crop monitoring, nutrient management and plant protection practices for more efficient and sustainable farming. By integrating mechanisation, digital technologies and precision farming, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision is strengthening India’s agricultural ecosystem, enhancing farmers’ incomes and advancing the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat, food security and Viksit Bharat 2047.
