I build ADAS systems for a living. Today, I found myself praying for one. This morning, I was involved in a major accident on a chaotic Indian road. The metal crunched, the world spun, and the most terrifying moment wasn’t the impact itself—it was turning to look at my mother in the passenger seat. That fear is something I’ll carry with me for a long time. By sheer luck, or perhaps grace, we both walked away with only minor injuries. As the adrenaline faded now and as I reflect the incident going back home in cab. This experience reinforced a few truths: 🛑 Human limits are real. When chaos unfolds in a split second, human reaction time is often not enough. Active safety systems exist to bridge that gap. 📜 Standards matter. India’s Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) should be far more than compliance requirements. They should form the foundation of a safer mobility ecosystem. But as our roads evolve, our safety frameworks must evolve even faster. 🚛 AEB will be a game-changer. The introduction of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) requirements for commercial vehicles has the potential to reshape our safety landscape. Imagine a 10-ton truck detecting danger and initiating braking before a human driver can react. ( could have saved my car today) 🧠 The industry is undergoing a paradigm shift. For decades, automotive safety focused on surviving crashes. Today, we should increase focus on preventing them altogether. One thing, that I realise today after the incident. At the end of the day, the real breakthrough isn’t a new sensor, a better perception stack, or a more sophisticated algorithm. It’s the simple promise that families get to go home unharmed. Today, mine did. Let’s keep engineering a safer tomorrow. ❤️🚗 #ADAS #AutomotiveSafety #AEB #AutonomousEmergencyBraking #RoadSafety #AutomotiveEngineering #FunctionalSafety #Mobility #India
