Announcing Our New Associate Principal for Elementary School: Joey Kaufhold We are thrilled to announce that Joey Kaufhold will be joining the Benjamin Franklin International School (BFIS) leadership team as our new Associate Principal for Elementary School. Joey is an accomplished international educator and leader with a career spanning over 15 years across the United States, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Japan, and Luxembourg. He joins us most recently from the International School of Luxembourg, where he served as Assistant Principal. Joey brings a wealth of expertise in designing world-class, inquiry-driven elementary programs. As a certified IBEN Workshop Leader and Site Visitor, he possesses a deep understanding of international standards and has been instrumental in leading successful  accreditations with the IB Primary Years Program (PYP), and Council of International Schools (CIS). His leadership is defined by a commitment to curriculum innovation - specifically in numeracy, literacy, and concept-based inquiry - and he is highly skilled in supporting teachers to refine their practice while fostering a strong sense of learner agency in the classroom. At the heart of Joey’s educational philosophy is a commitment to intentional  and responsive student centered learning. He is a Certified Math Specialist and a passionate advocate for literacy, having worked extensively with the Science of Reading and Columbia Teachers College's Readers & Writers Workshop.
