For our brain, experiencing a natural disaster equals a flow of information, which travels from our senses to the brain. How the brain processes this info determines our future attitude, emotional response and behaviour towards natural disasters. This study is a painful demonstration that information about disasters, even in a 'first hand experience' form, is not processed by the brain in a way that leads to altered attitude, emotional response and behaviour. For those who want to see change, this is a bitter truth. It does not have to be like this. Brain science makes it now possible to retro-engineer the chain of events. Once it is clear how the brain processes information, the capacity to systemically shape info that will trigger the desired impact on human behaviour comes within reach. https://lnkd.in/gqbJixdE
