📣 We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Dr. Sayantan Bhattacharyya, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Bernal Institute, who has been awarded a prestigious Marie Skłodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. This honor reflects both his exceptional scientific talent and the dedicated mentorship of Associate Professor Nanasaheb Thorat,PhD, FRSM. 👏 With a success rate of only eight to nine percent, receiving this fellowship is an extraordinary accomplishment. Sayantan will lead the funded project SCOPE, which will create an advanced organ on a chip platform to study how craniospinal irradiation and chemotherapy influence neurodevelopment and long term cognitive outcomes in children with medulloblastoma. This ambitious work builds on pioneering research at the Bernal Institute and the University of Limerick, bringing together cutting edge nanomedicine approaches, Raman spectroscopy and sophisticated three dimensional cancer models. 🎉 Warm congratulations to Dr. Bhattacharyya and Professor Thorat on this remarkable success. Quote from Sayantan: “I began my research journey working with babies with Down syndrome where I truly understood the impact and responsibility of medical research. Moving into oncology during my PhD was a rollercoaster ride that pushed me to grow further as a scientist. Receiving this fellowship which allows me to work at the intersection of pediatric cancer and neurodevelopment feels like a full circle moment. I am incredibly grateful to my PI Prof. Thorat for his constant guidance and support and I hope to use this opportunity to make a meaningful difference for children facing devastating diseases.” #ResearchImpact #FutureLeader #Fellowship #StayCurious University of Limerick Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Limerick
