Great to see Bernal Institute PhD researcher Ibnu Taufan featured in Silicon Republic, sharing his work on how vibrations can be used to support a more sustainable Internet of Things. Ibnu’s research explores piezoelectric vibrational energy harvesters, battery-free devices that can capture ambient vibrations from machines and structures and convert them into energy to help power IoT sensors for real-time monitoring. This is a strong example of the research happening across the Bernal Institute, University of Limerick , where engineering, materials, sustainability and digital technologies come together to address real-world challenges. Congratulations to Ibnu Taufan and his mentors Jeff Punch and Valeria Nico on this excellent feature and for helping make complex research accessible and relevant to a wider audience.
