Dr. Jennifer Ahern, executive associate dean and professor of epidemiology at UC Berkeley School of Public Health, testified this week in front of the California State Assembly Health Committee on behalf of the University of California. Dr. Ahern testified in support of California Senate Bill 895—the California Science and Health Research Bond Act, introduced by State Senator Scott Wiener. In her comments, Dr. Ahern said: “When I first moved to California in 1998, I came because of UC. California was charting its own path by combining unparallelled university excellence with a public mission in the UC system – I needed to be part of it. Today, California has an opportunity to chart its own path in a new, critically important way. SB 895, The California Foundation for Science and Health Research, will restore the capacity of UC and other research entities to be an engine for the economy, workforce, and our public health.” Learn more about the University of California’s positive impact on our state here: https://ow.ly/RVO450ZaG1E #SB895 #PublicHealth #Science #Research #UCBerkeley #StateOfCalifornia #Health University of California Office of the President
