Due to my dear friend Holger Jacobsen I had the chance to speak at Google last week. In a very energetic and open space we spoke about how to handle a „crisis“. How to keep up believe when the results won’t show the work you put in. How to decide if and when to change the curse. How to stay in the moment when pressure rises. For me it is about relationships. We invest in them every day. We nurture them. We don’t take them for granted. In the toughest times, bulletproof relationships will allow you to work on performance. They will allow you to be brutally honest and open about what needs to be done. They will allow you to have the tough conversations. The ones that are uncomfortable and therefore most likely the ones you need to have the most. Relationships will be the foundation of a performance driven culture. Without them you will crumble into peer groups and individuals. I want to thank Google and especially Holger Jacobsen for inviting me. A big Thank you to the „googlers“ for your thoughtful and also tough questions ;) It gave me an opportunity to once more reflect myself and my believes.
