Most conversations around rivers and water quality stop at headlines... Sewage. Pollution. Water companies. But beneath the surface, sadly the reality is much bigger. I recently sat down with James Wallace , CEO of River Action UK, for an episode of 71%: How Water Shapes Our World. We spoke about what healthy rivers should actually look like, where regulation is failing, why awareness alone is no longer enough, and what responsible stewardship now requires. One thing that really stayed with me was the idea that many of us have forgotten what “healthy” even looks like when it comes to water. This isn't a political conversation, it's was a human one about ecosystems, responsibility, public health, and the relationship we all have with the waterways around us.
