⚫🟡🔴 Investment in European medtech is gaining momentum, and Belgium continues to play a meaningful role in that story. (But investment is not the finish line.) Earlier this month, De Tijd reported that HERAN Partners is raising a second fund that aims to invest up to €120 million in early-stage European med- and healthtech companies. This is a strong signal of confidence in the innovative capacity of our sector. Access to capital is essential. It enables entrepreneurs to transform promising ideas into scalable solutions. It strengthens Europe's strategic capacity in medtech and healthtech. And it confirms that our sector remains an attractive, future-oriented field for investors. 🏥 But investment is only the beginning of the innovation journey. As the Belgian federation of the medical technology industry, we see first-hand that strong innovation does not automatically translate into adoption in Belgium. The story of icometrix, supported by the first HERAN Partners fund, illustrates this well: https://lnkd.in/eG2Ma5p5 Too often, valuable medical technologies struggle to find their way into the Belgian healthcare system and do what they were invented and funded to do: make a tangible difference for patients and healthcare professionals. Why? Because we can’t fit them into the existing reimbursement models, assessment capacity is limited, and more. 🧗 These barriers are real, but they are not insurmountable. Now, it is up to policymakers, healthcare stakeholders and the whole sector to close the circle. We must ensure valuable innovations get implemented and reach patients, improve outcomes and support healthcare professionals in their daily work. --------------------------------------------- Read the full article in De Tijd here: https://lnkd.in/eKn7tTVE --------------------------------------------- #MedTechMatters #HealthInnovation #Reimbursement #StrongerTogether
