Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in Europe, claiming 1.7 million lives each year. In Belgium, more than 30,000 people die annually from cardiovascular conditions. But what if we could act Thatโs exactly the ambition behind the European Cardiovascular Health Plan currently in development, an initiative that Prof. Damien GRUSON strongly supports. As a leading expert in laboratory medicine and active member of several national and international bodies, he shares how diagnostics are essential to making prevention a reality. Two concrete examples from cardiovascular care: ๐ A one-time test for LP(a) to better define cardiovascular risk ๐ (NT-)proBNP testing to help detect heart failure before symptoms arise. These tests are not expenses, they are ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ in timely action, better outcomes and more efficient healthcare systems. Yet implementation remains a challenge. To make the value of diagnostics truly visible, we must combine diagnostic data with clinical and economic evidence. Only then can we gain a more complete picture of their impact. Read the full interview with Prof. GRUSON on our website: โข in Dutch: https://lnkd.in/emTUCBGD โข in French: https://lnkd.in/eAsdfhen ---------------------------------------------------- #Diagnostics #MedTechMatters #IVD #Prevention #LaboratoryMedicine #CardiovascularHealth #ChronicDiseases
