"Your career is built on people, not transactions." That line from Hernan Mayol stopped me mid-conversation. Hernán is the General Manager of Banco de Reservas, a 30-year trade finance veteran, ITFA Americas (AMRC) board member, and one of the most connected bankers in Latin America. On paper, his résumé is extraordinary. But what struck me most wasn't the career — it was the man behind it. He lost his father and mentor early. He built Apprentice Worldwide so no young professional would have to navigate that transition alone. He pursued a program in Spiritual Direction because, as he puts it, he wanted to learn to hear what is being said beneath what is being said. And when I asked what his biography doesn't capture — he talked about his wife. "She held everything together at home while I was building things far away, and never once asked for recognition she more than deserved."
