📚 Research Article of the Week – BeeMed Spotlight 💭Preservation Versus Release of Normal Long Head of Biceps Tendon in Repair of Isolated Stage-1 Supraspinatus Tears by Julien Berhouet, Adrien JACQUOT, François Gadéa, Jacques Guery, THIERRY JOUDET, Nicolas Bonnevialle, Xavier Ohl, Lionel NEYTON, Nicolas Gasse, Johannes Barth, Maxime Antoni, Franck Dordain, David Gallinet, Christophe CHAROUSSET, Société Francophone d'Arthroscopie - SFA This prospective randomized trial explored whether to preserve or release a macroscopically normal LHB tendon during arthroscopic repair of isolated stage-1 supraspinatus tears. 👥 190 patients (95 per group) were followed for 24 months. The results? ✅ Higher CMS & ASES scores in the LHB release group ✅ More patients reached clinical improvement (97% vs. 88%) ✅ Fewer scored below 70 (3% vs. 15%) ✅ No reoperations in the release group (vs. 4 in preservation) 💡 Even a "normal-looking" LHB tendon may be a pain generator. Releasing it could improve outcomes. 🎧 Want expert insight? 👉 Watch or listen to Dr. Patrick Denard’s opinion here: https://lnkd.in/ea5AP4fC https://lnkd.in/eji-5iXy #ResearchOfTheWeek #ShoulderSurgery #BicepsTendon #SupraspinatusTear #Orthopedics #BeeMed #SportsMedicine #PatrickDenard #MSKResearch #ClinicalEvidence
