Founder and CEO of Doderm with a big heart for pets and a passion for the microbiome

Quo Vadis Pet Health? The pet health industry is in motion — and new technologies, especially AI, are key drivers of this transformation. At a recent Pet Tech Meet-Up in London, a small circle of startups and investors came together to exchange ideas on future technologies and the latest development trends. What stood out was not only the energy in the room, but the quality of the discussion: discovering complementary approaches, challenging perspectives, and deepening collaboration across companies. As the founder of Doderm GmbH, a biotechnology company developing products for companion animals, I had the privilege of being part of this inspiring exchange. Our focus is clear: premium, science-backed innovation that supports long-term health — while remaining simple and accessible for every pet owner. One key insight: data-driven systems are becoming a powerful complement to product innovation. They enable a shift toward proactive care — supporting prevention, early detection, and more personalized health solutions. Another strong trend we discussed is the rise of holistic grooming and veterinary services delivered directly to pet owners’ homes. These models prioritize comfort and reduce stress for animals, creating a better experience for both pets and their owners. And despite all digital advancements, one thing remains essential: bringing the right people together in person. These face-to-face moments spark creativity, build trust, and unlock meaningful collaboration. So where do we go from here? What do you see as the biggest challenge for the future of pet health — and which solutions would you like to see? UNLEASHED by Purina Markus Zengerer Katharina Bansemer Dr. Jan H.
