A milestone for cardiovascular research: The first patient has been enrolled in the BASKET- BALL trial! Led by Prof. Dr. med. Raban Jeger from Stadtspital Zürich Triemli, Switzerland, and Prof. Dr. med. Bruno Scheller, Saarland University Hospital Homburg/Saar, Germany, this randomized controlled trial will enroll more than 2,000 patients. The trial focuses on challenging coronary and clinical conditions, which represent a significant share of today’s clinical practice in coronary angioplasty. By comparing an advanced drug‑coated balloon (DCB) therapy with current stent treatments, this landmark trial aims to generate robust evidence that may shape future clinical guidelines. As a long‑standing pioneer in coronary DCB technology, B. Braun continues to proactively advance the clinical evidence for sirolimus-coated balloons and support research that drives meaningful progress in intervention cardiology.
