I was barely paying attention. Another formal tour during a networking meeting. Another generic design. Then I saw it. The painting hung tall. Gray monotone colors, no clear subject. Hollow eyes encircled in dark scattered spirals. No resemblance to a human face- yet inspired by one. Not uncanny or wrong. Indifferent. It felt personal, felt all-seeing. It stood out not through vibrance but through soul. It felt right. Art is not furniture. It calls out the abstract thoughts we seldom express. It is non-conforming, bold, provocative- but not offensive. It resonates with our core, buried deep under the pressures of daily life. This resonance fuels my ambitions for Agend. When was the last time art stopped you mid-track?
