What does it take to bring healthcare to the last mile of global supply chains in Côte d’Ivoire?   Last week, our colleague Stefan Wilhelm joined a field visit to Côte d’Ivoire, organized by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and Elucid, to explore how healthcare access can reach smallholder farmers in the cocoa value chain.   👉 What we saw Innovative models like Elucid are making a difference: • Zero co-pay access to essential services • Coverage beyond national systems • Digital tools enabling real-time health insights • Strong alignment with Gavi’s approach to reaching zero-dose children, ensuring underserved communities are not left behind 👉 What remains • Farmers still capture only a fraction of the value they create • Healthcare access remains fragile   Encouragingly, strong momentum is building – with partners like Gavi, Tony’s Chocolonely, Mars, and Hershey’s Chocolate World working toward long-term solutions for small producers. Thanks to Markus Beck, Johanneke de Hoogh, Dr. Tania H. Rödiger-Vorwerk, Tobias Kahler and Samuel Knauss for coming together.     At Bayer Foundation, we act as a convener and catalyst, bringing partners together and de-risking innovative approaches – such as Elucid – so they can scale. Because stronger and healthier smallholder livelihoods are the foundation of resilient and sustainable food systems. #SocialInnovation #CatalyticCapital #HealthAccess
